The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading the quality assurance efforts of LocumTenens.com. The role is primarily responsible for the day-to-day tactical execution of automated and manual software testing activities including but not limited to establishing and maintaining industry-standard quality engineering best practices as well as fostering and administering efficient quality assurance methodologies for Agile/Kanban Teams.  The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for building automation, deploying automation, the execution of automation testing, and leading the team in the automation process.  This position also ensures that SAFe Agile guidelines and standards are met while engaging in continuously preventing defects and helping to release products faster by creating and maintain a healthy and robust QA process.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Technical Testing, Monitoring, Maintenance, and Automation – 60%

• Invests in automated testing when and where it makes sense tomake testing more efficient, repeatable, and easier to track while providing the time needed to do essential manual exploratory testing
• Acts as an escalation point for all QA resources
• Leads by example with hands-on development and execution of test cases, scripts, plans and procedures (manual and automated; functional, system, integration, and regression) and documents results
• Works with developers to ensure work is completed within the allotted time. Must be prepared to work out of office hours for deployments and emergencies
• Directs, builds, and finds opportunities to employ automated testing
• Deploys and maintains automated testing
• Works with developers to identify, recreate, resolve, and review defects; maintains an up-to-date log of open and closed defects

 

Agile Practices – 20%

• Partners with business stakeholders, product owners, technical architects,UI/UX designers, and software leads/developers to incorporate quality from day one
• Presents an aggregate view of testing to the high-level management
• Advocates QA throughout the organization and provides technical expertise
• Ensures teams implement and follow best practices to prevent defects
• Establishes and evolves formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices
• Oversees all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met
• Actively reviews user stories and feature requirements to identify affected components to be tested; learns, reviews, and understands assigned areas of functionality to properly test implemented solutions

 

Team Management – 20%

• Supports, mentors, and professionally develops QA analysts and acts as an escalation point for all QA resources
• Participates in development of department goals, objectives, plans, and budgets
• Interviews and selects candidates for hire; implements associate engagement strategies
• Maintains the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team
• Conducts annual performance evaluations; coaches associates to achieve maximum performance
• Participates in annual Succession Planning and Talent Review pre-planning
• Creates and delivers associate corrective actions and performance improvement plans as needed

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE)

• May work on special projects or other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY

• Directly manages a team of 2 exempt direct reports
• May communicate with external vendors and service providers 

 

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or an equivalent combination of experience and training
• 6+ years of related progressive experience
• Several years in a management role having significant business impact
• Demonstrated Agile quality assurance leadership experience
• Demonstrated experience in testing APIs, mobile, and web testing with multiple browsers and mobile platforms
• Experience with automated testing frameworks is essential as is working and testing with an Azure tech stack
