Senior Accountant

The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to become an integral part of the Accounting Team and assume responsibility for all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, billing/collecting review and reporting functions related to assigned contracts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

 

 

Interpret and account for all aspects of Hospital and Physician Practice Management contracts.

• Revenue Recognition
• Estimation of Accounts Receivable based on insurance payer mix
• Review provider payroll related to assigned contracts
• Monthly journal entries including eliminating entries
• Create client and corporate financial statements
• Analysis & Reporting as needed
• Review contents of balance sheets and P&L’s with PA operations staff
• Monthly client dashboard reporting

 

Perform analysis of revenue and expense data.

• Variance analysis
• Review & analyze billing and collecting data for reasonableness and accuracy in financial reporting
• Review & analyze expense data from payroll and accounts payable

 

Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger.

• Journal entries associated with Month-end close process
• Entries should be made accurately and timely during close

 

Reconcile general ledger accounts.

• Balance sheet reconciliation
• Other expense reconciliation as needed

 

Forecasting & Budgeting.

• Budgets prepared for clients and the company based on various revenue & expense variables
• Periodic forecasts prepared for clients throughout the year
• Variance analysis of budgets & forecasts

 

Proactively provide information to help drive business profitability.

• Based on analysis of financial data

 

Develop strong working relationships with Operations, Customers and Billing & Collecting companies.

 

Conducts job duties in accordance with the Corporate Values and Culture

 

Education/Certification:               

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.

 

Experience Required:          

• Two (2) to five (5) years of accounting experience.
• Physician practice management, hospital or related healthcare experience preferred.
• Excellent Excel skills.
• CPA candidate a plus.

     

Required Knowledge:            

• Knowledge of physician practice management or hospital operations and patient billing and collections process.
• Knowledge of advanced budgeting and forecasting practices and procedures.                         
• Complete knowledge of advanced financial accounting practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with GAAP, auditing and business processes.
• Understanding of automated accounting applications.
• Knowledge of corporate operations and information flow.
