Overview

The Senior HR Analyst is responsible for working with all levels of HR staff to prepare advanced reports and queries, recommend changes and improvements to existing processes and reports, and gather data as necessary. This role is focused on providing strategic insights through workforce metrics, analytics, dashboards, and reports. The incumbent will create and automate reports to “tell the story” about the use of human capital.

 

This role is also responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that are experienced by the end-user (e.g., login issues, password resets, pop-up blockers, etc.). In addition, this role is responsible for proactively monitoring and supporting file transmissions associated with benefit elections to various benefits vendors.

 

The incumbent will ensure accuracy of HR data via audits and will conduct training of staff at various levels.  Must be extremely comfortable handling confidential data.

The position reports to the Senior Director of Human Capital Management Systems (HCMS).

Description

 The Sr. HCMS Analyst will act as lead for the HCMS Specialist, providing guidance and mentorship on best practices of HRIS processes.

  • Act as primary contact on the Human Capital Management Systems (HCMS) team by creating queries, audits and other data for reporting.  More specifically, this individual will be responsible for creating, editing and delivering standard weekly/monthly/quarterly HR analytics packages, as well as completing ad-hoc requests as needed.  Must be comfortable with advanced reporting capabilities in Microsoft Access and Excel, using queries and table joins to combine data from multiple sources into one report.
  • Analysis and reporting of headcount activity on an ongoing basis.  Examples include hiring/attrition trends and headcount forecasting.  Analysis in support of key HR initiatives including Talent Management, Succession Planning, Recruiting, Onboarding, Benefits, Diversity, Compliance, Employee Relations, and Compensation.
  • Oversee the submission process of required federal and state compliance reporting such as EEO-1 & VETS-4212.
  • Facilitate conversations regarding integrations set-up from various benefits carriers and other vendors.  Must be comfortable with interpreting file specification layout documents.
  • Strong collaboration with internal partners and external vendors is required
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.  Partner with vendors, managers, and associates to identify and resolve system issues and problems.
  • Ability to engage in cross-functional collaboration to determine the analytics needs of the business.  This will involve working with all levels of employees to accomplish this goal.
  • Leverage various business information tools and possess a working knowledge of advanced reporting environments.
  • Providing support to clients across various functions including Finance, Information Technology, Recruiting, and HR Business Partners.
  • Document, streamline, and automate HR policies, processes and procedures as part of system implementation and/or business process re-engineering projects.
  • Supervise the configuration of business process workflows in UltiPro (e.g., Employee/Manager Self-Service, Compensation Management, Performance Management).
  • The Sr. HCMS Specialist will facilitate training sessions and create training documentation for end-users.
  • Special projects as needed.  Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

Requirements

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Computer Science or Management Information Systems (MIS) or related work experience. Master’s Degree is a plus.

 

Experience Required:

  • Five to seven years of in-depth hands-on relational database and reporting experience in an HR system required.  
  • Two to three years of project management and system implementation experience required.
  • Proven experience with integrated HRIS/Payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, UltiPro, or PeopleSoft required.
  • High-power user of Microsoft Excel for advanced reporting and analysis. Must be comfortable with functions such as pivot tables, lookup/match/exact, countif/sumif, concatenation, date calculations, conversion of values to text strings (and vice versa) and other formulas and charting.
  • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) to create complex table joins and queries. Must be able to create and interpret scripts to troubleshoot and resolve any issues with report construction.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio to create process documentation and organization charts.
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to create and execute macros in Microsoft applications is a plus.
  • Must exhibit strong report writing proficiency; ability to quickly learn and use various software programs.  Comfort with independent study is a must.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong working knowledge of problem solving, root cause analysis and associated solutions implementation and deployment.
  • Ability to identify problems through statistical and logic-based analysis.
  • Strong aptitude for working with HR and Benefits processes and data, to ensure accurate execution of system functionality that effectively meets the needs of the business.
  • Strong understanding of HCMS database design, structure, functions and processes, and experience with database tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn and synthesize new technologies with existing technologies.
  • Ability to independently handle multiple priorities to meet strict deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Workday experience strongly preferred.
