The Production Database Administrator is responsible for representing Care Logistics with hospital clients by deploying and supporting the Care Logistics solutions.
The Production Database Administrator will be deploying PostgreSQL databases to our new customers, migrating old customers from Oracle to PostgreSQL, while supporting our existing PostgreSQL and Oracle customer base. They will work closely with Solutions Delivery, Development, QA, Engineering, Customer Support and customer resources in support of these organizational objectives. The candidate will a quick learner known for their ability to help plan, organize and maintain best-practices and procedures for configuring, deploying and monitoring the database components of the Company's products. Strong analysis and communication skills are required. The Production DBA is expected to understand the schema and architecture in depth and how it relates to data in the application. They will be the subject matter expert for all database related activities.
Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
Experience in PostgreSQL database administration.
Experience migrating data from one server platform to another.
Experience with tuning, restoring, recovering and troubleshooting PostgreSQL.
Experience in setting up metrics reporting on database performance, security and capacity.
Experience in writing shell scripts in a Linux environment.
Experience in maintaining databases in a Linux environment.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in Oracle database administration.
Experience working with 11g and 12c RAC environments.
Experience upgrading and patching Oracle in production environments.
Experience managing Oracle database and OS platform upgrades.
Skills/Abilities: Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
An intermediate understanding of underlying hardware, network, storage technology and able to provide specifications for hardware requirements.
Replication and other disaster solutions.
Able to write scripts to assist in conversion and migration of data.
Other database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, etc.) a strong plus.
Able to write complex SQL queries for various needs.
Proficient in PL/SQL.
Able to communicate and teach complex technical concepts to less technical resources.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent documentation skills.
